We are pleased to announce that Swansea Bay University Health Board (SBUHB) has become a full member of the Association.

Swansea Bay University Health Board delivers healthcare services to approximately 500,000 residents across Swansea and Neath Port Talbot in Wales. Serving a diverse population that includes urban centres, coastal communities, and upper valley areas, SBUHB operates in a region with a higher-than-average proportion of older adults, contributing to increased demand for health and social care services.

Among its major infrastructure initiatives, Neath Port Talbot Hospital was developed under the Private Finance Initiative (PFI) model. The project was delivered by the Baglan Moor Healthcare consortium, including Kier Group, Tilbury Douglas, SSL (design), and Charterhouse Project Equity Investments, under a 27.5-year agreement signed in May 2000, with construction completed in 2003. While the project enabled the timely delivery of modern healthcare infrastructure, it also involved the long-term financial commitments typical of PFI structures.

WAPPP President Ziad-Alexandre Hayek stated, “We are proud to welcome Swansea Bay University Health Board to WAPPP as we continue to promote more sustainable and successful public-private partnerships globally.”
