In November 2018, WAPPP was born with just a handful of individuals. Fast forward to today, and we proudly boast over 400 individual members spanning from Japan to Chile. Our global reach extends to 60 governments, each represented by dedicated PPP units, infrastructure agencies, or other key departments. The momentum is undeniable, with our list of members continuously expanding.
Last year marked a historic milestone as WAPPP hosted the largest-ever PPP conference. Recent months have seen our organization achieve significant feats, and we are excited to share these successes with you. October 2023 marked a pivotal moment as we partnered with CICA during the Paris Infrastructure Week, aligning our goals for enhanced outreach and resources. The focus was on our collaboration with UNECE, with the aim of delivering a model law and project evaluation tailored for sustainable PPPs in the new era.
Building on the momentum, WAPPP played a central role in the WIF event in Abu Dhabi, hosting 19 panels and convening the Global Council of PPP Unit Heads. However, we’re far from resting on our laurels. Looking ahead to 2024, WAPPP is set to champion small-scale PPPs. Recognizing the challenges faced by local and regional PPPs, our initiatives will focus on thought leadership, addressing resource constraints, and providing a platform for these projects.
